MEDICAL VISA - 'MED' (MALAYSIAN PASSPORT)

* A Medical Visa is given to those seeking medical treatment only in reputed/recognized specialized hospitals/treatment centers in India. Up to two attendants who are blood relatives are allowed to accompany the applicant under separate Medical Attendant visas, and the Medical Attendant visa will have the same validity as the Medical visa.

Although not exhaustive, the following list of ailments would be of primary consideration: Serious ailments such as neuro-surgery; ophthalmic disorders; heart-related problems; renal disorders; organ transplantation; congenital disorders; gene-therapy; radio-therapy; plastic surgery; joint replacement, etc. The initial duration of the visa is up to 6 months or the period of the treatment, whichever is less. The visa will be valid for multiple entries during the 6 months.

Medical Attendant Visa is only applicable to the applicant's or patient's immediate family member to apply for; such as parents, grandparents, spouse and children accompanying them.

TRANSIT VISA - 'TR' (MALAYSIAN PASSPORT)

* A transit visa is granted for the sole purpose of enabling the holder to travel through India to reach his/her ultimate destination. Change of purpose is not allowed. The visa will ordinarily be valid for a single/double journey and for entry within 15 days of date of issue. The Transit visa is valid for direct transit only for a maximum period of 3 days. For a stay in India beyond 3 days, an appropriate visa should be obtained. Please note the visa is valid beginning on the day it is issued. So a 15 day visa issued on January 1 would be valid until January 15.

TOURIST VISA ON ARRIVAL

Check list for travelers planning to travel on TVOA to India:

2) TVOA fee of USD60 per passport (Currency in USD or converted into Indian Rupees are accepted by the Indian airport authorities)

3) 2 passport size color photos (2 inches X 2 inches) with white background ONLY

Tourist Visa on Arrival

In order to promote tourism, the Tourist Visa on Arrival (TVOA) scheme was introduced for the nationals of five countries, namely, Japan, Singapore, Finland, Luxembourg and New Zealand with effect from 01.01.2010. The scheme has been found to be useful by the foreign nationals. Up to December, 2010, 6569 nationals availed the facility of TVOA. Government of India has extended the Tourist Visa on Arrival (TVOA) scheme for the nationals of these five countries. Further, TVOA scheme was extended for the nationals of Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Philippines with effect from 01.01.2011. Now, it has been decided to extend the `Tourist Visa on Arrival` scheme for the citizens of Myanmar and Indonesia also.

-Visiting India for the purpose of tourism (recreation, sight-seeing, visiting friends and relatives)

- Fulfills all other criteria for grant of normal tourist visa to India like assured financial standing (production of return ticket and proof of availability of sufficient funds to spend in India), passport of at least six month validity and re-entry permit if required.

WHO IS NOT ELIGIBLE:

- Citizens of the above countries who was or whose parents or grandparents (paternal or maternal) was born in, and was permanently resident in Pakistan.

- Persons holding Diplomatic/ Official passports

- A person who is a resident of India and /or works in India

-A person who is declared persona non grata by Government of India and is not the subject of a black list or any warning circular or other restrictive list

VALIDITY

The Visa on Arrival is valid for a single entry into India for a period of up to 30 (thirty) days. This Visa is non-extendable and non-convertible and will be issued at arrival only at the designated international airports of Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. Only two visits on a Tourist Visa-on-Arrival shall be permissible in a calendar year and there shall be a gap of at least two months between each visit.

FEE

The fee for the visa on arrival is USD 60 (Sixty United States Dollars) or equivalent amount in Indian Rupees per passenger (including children).
